Tia Mastromatto, MA

Tia Mastromatto is a Research Associate at TransAnalytics who joined the company in 2013. Her responsibilities include data analysis, literature review/synthesis, and writing/graphics support for preparation of project deliverables.

For NHTSA, Ms. Mastromatto oversees production, and is the primary author, of the comprehensive, annual Data Books, which describe trends in the number and characteristics of traffic fatalities. This essential resource, which supports highway safety planning for nearly half of the States, is the result of queries of NHTSA’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS); they provide graphs and tables with interpretive text to reveal changes in key safety indices for all core safety emphasis areas.

Since joining TransAnalytics, Ms. Mastromatto has been the primary author of two syntheses of technical literature for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration: one examining the relationship between physical fitness (activity level) and the safe driving abilities and exposure of older adults, and the other exploring the implications of mild cognitive impairment on driving performance.

Ms. Mastromatto received her B.A. in 2006 and her M.A. in 2012 from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, and maintains certification as a Child Passenger Safety (CPS) technician.
